  • Hi Steve,

nice to hear from you once again!

The Ganoderma you found, looks quite thick, soft and fleshy to me. So it reminds me very much of G. resinaceum. Oak would be the proper substrate for it as well.

But let's see, what others will say...

    Sincerely, Martin

  • Hello Steve,

here a finding of G. resinaceum in July - broadly connected to the base of a living oak tree, showing three zones of colours: innermost (red-)brown, then orange-brown, outside creme.

Your specimen is stipeless as well and shows these colours even better!

The quite small G. lucidum should have a long thin stem, which your Ganoderma doesn't show.

    Sincerely, Martin

The same mushroom 2 months later, with darkend red-brown centre - but now a victim of moulds:

  • Many thanks for confirming G. resinaceum - First time I am seeing this species. I will go again to take more photos and maybe some spores.

KaMaMa, last photo with mouldy patterns is really cool!

Yes, autumn is back to our Islands, although it rained once about 10 days ago and no more for the next week. But you should see me a bit around again!
